ISES AZ & The Phoenix Business Journal - Advertise Today!

Dear ISES AZ Members,

Recently we announced that we have formed a partnership with the Phoenix Business Journal (also a fellow ISES AZ member). For the last several months the ISES AZ Board of Directors has set out to find ways to promote ISES/our members to sources that might not yet know about us. One of the many sources that we have zoned in on is the local corporate market. While we are fortunate enough to count a handful of corporate planners as members, we have also found that there are a number of other key employees being tasked with coordinating the meetings/events that are not networked within the industry. This continues to become more prevalent as corporations downsize - sometimes shifting the planning responsibilities to administrative assistants and human resource executives.

The partnership with the Phoenix Business Journal is an ideal opportunity for us to get in front of these potential lead sources. A special pull-out-and-save guide will be featured in the May 29th edition of the publication. The Phoenix Convention Center (also a fellow ISES member) is a major partner in this as well. The pull out guide will feature advertisements – as well as editorial on everything from how to plan an event, to reasons to keep them local, etc.

For more information on advertising and sponsorships, please contact:

Catherine Weathers
Advertising Consultant

In addition, the Phoenix Business Journal will be producing an event that will coincide with the guide. It will take place on Thursday, May 28th. This will be a half-day industry summit that will include a luncheon, education sessions, trends in the industry and will culminate with a social function.

If you would like the letter from the Phoenix Business Journal's Publisher Don Henninger about the section and stats on the Phoenix Business Journal/Noteworthy News please email David Cox, dcox@universityofphoenixstadium or Charlene James, cjames@imax.com.

We appreciate the willingness of the Phoenix Business Journal to consider us a partner in this endeavor, and their commitment to promoting keeping business local. Opportunities to get involved and be a part of both the publication and the event exist on all levels. Whether you are interested in placing an ad, showcasing your product or service or attending the event, we invite you to be a part of this! Our hope is that this can become an annual partnership that showcases ISES AZ members and what we do best.

This is one of many projects that ISES AZ is proud to announce. In the coming weeks you will be receiving info that will include how to best put your ISES membership to work, an online membership survey and more. There are a number of initiatives in place that we invite you to be a part of.

Again, thank you for being a member of ISES AZ. We hope that you will consider taking advantage of the opportunity to be featured in the Phoenix Business Journal’s Meeting & Event Industry Guide.

Valley's Best - ISES Members Get the Word Out!

Christine Bailey is currently working on an article for Southwest Meetings & Events Magazine about hip, urban event spots in downtown Phoenix. Some sites on her radar include MonOrchid, the Ice House, Bentley Projects, 5th Avenue and Madison Event Center, some of the art galleries in the Roosevelt arts district, and the soon to open Penthouse Suite at Orpheum Lofts.

Other possibilities include Cibo, Cheuvront and Palette. As event planners and vendors, she needs our help! If you are open to sharing any favorite hip or urban chic places that you like to recommend to your clients or comment on any places that you've enjoyed working with please contact Christine!

She is looking for other options around the Valley, too, perhaps Axis/Radius or Suede in Old Town Scottsdale or the new hotel in Tempe, aloft. She is hoping to wrap up any possibilities by mid-week, so, if anything comes to mind, let her know by Wednesday.

Merrell, a native of Cleveland, moved to Los Angeles in 1983 and he worked in a sales and marketing capacity in various industries before finding his niche in special events. Combining a creative eye with sales savvy, Merrell immediately excelled in the event industry. AOO Events fast became the special event company of choice for clients ranging from former President Ronald Reagan to Warner Brothers Studios. Since 1999, AOO Events has won seven Gala Awards, the event industry’s highest honor. The awards were for Best Corporate Event in 1999 and 2000. In 2002 the fourth Gala Award and an Esprit Award was won in the Best Décor category for the movie premiere event for “John Q”. Merrell’s current office is located in Hollywood, California.
Join David as he delves into “Walking the Tight Rope Between Creativity and Productivity”…
Every Producer, Designer and Owner understands the fine line we walk every day between creativity and profitability. When do you re-invent the wheel and when do you address realistic budgetary expectations? Are you over designing the project? What are your client’s true expectations? And can you make a profit within their budget? No matter how fabulous the design, if you’re not making money you won’t be in business for long! Walk away with a whole new take on the war between designers and bean counters. Find out if you’re a right brain or left brain personality and how it effects your work and your business.

WHEN GREEN ISN'T GREEN.
Green is catching on. Corporations, individuals and special event firms are jumping to make themselves and their productions green or at least appear green. "Greenwashing" - the perception but not actuality of being green - is getting plenty of attention. The bigger challenge is getting a lot less attention - the determination of what is and isn't healthy for the environment...("green!"). Are natural fiber linens truly "green?" Is a wheat grass centerpiece a "green alternative?" Is fresh fruit an appropriate "green" option? See first-hand what is and what isn't green so that you can make your own educated socially responsible decisions!
